Can’t fix bugs… January 24, 2006

… but can create bug reports!

Even as I write this, I am upgrading the workstation at work (which is primarily a print/file server) to Dapper Drake.

I hope I can be of some help in finding bugs, if not fixing them.

I primarily use my laptop at work too – the desktop by the side is for those odd occassions when I don’t lug my laptop to work. I use it to browse and read news and mail too. Given that I don’t depend on it too much, I thought it would be nice if I could keep with Dapper Drake.

What does this mean to you, dear reader? It means you might see the occasional Dapper screenshot, and the occasional usability bug. By bringing inconsistencies to light (in the form of bug reports and postings) I hope I will be contributing in some small way to a better world drake.

The primary bug in Dapper is that they’re currently going through a transition from hotplug+udev to udev+clever_tricks_in_kernel_2.6.15. This ensures that my network card isn’t even created, and all other kind of wierd things happen the instant I try to upgrade (I’ve done so thrice.)
