Actually SteveB, in most large organizations a BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) is in place. The BES works well with Outlook, GroupWise, and I believe Lotus Notes. Evolution works very well connected to a GroupWise server or to an Outlook server. No desktop client needed and Crackberry and Evolution work great together!!!

Tell you what...
if anyone is looking for Outlook on Linux, he's starting with wrong foot. First Evolution is million times faster, second... Outlook is the lame-duck part of Office, sitting next to Word. If people got it, that is because they are on company lans, and corporate frenzy.
He you are sober and keep away from grass you don't even think of using outlook, unless.... your are in for self-injury.

One more thing, I've been since beta 0.96 on windows, sounds like it was early last century, sometimes 'round '85. I worked thru unix (Sco, SystemV, and other blends), but it took me some times to get on the linux saddle (redhat). I tell you what if anyone that wants to start using a pc goes windows, nowadays, he is on the wrong track, all he gets is friends with word2mputh experience that will help him bug is bit of hww.
Now, give them Ubuntu, it is a dream. Simple, got everything and keeps wiz guys away! In one shoot you got rid of viruses and likes.
Long live Ubuntu.

My only complaint is how slowly it loads compared to Thunderbird and Outlook on the same machines. Admittedly my shop doesn't have the latest, fastest machines, but the wait for the program to load is too distracting for me and a lot of others I know.

It IS a great program and I'll keep trying it until this situation changes.
